Accessibility software helps people with disabilities use technology more efficiently. For example, screen readers help people who are blind by reading out the text on the screen, and speech recognition software helps those who can't use a keyboard to control their computers with their voice.

An accessibility program is a plan that organizations implement to make their technology, websites, or services more accessible to people with disabilities. This can include using accessibility software, making website changes to make them easier to navigate, or training staff on accessibility issues.

The 4 principles of digital accessibility, known as POUR, are:

  1. Perceivable: This means that users must be able to perceive the information being presented (it can't be invisible to all of their senses).
  2. Operable: This means that users must be able to operate the interface (the interface cannot require interaction that a user cannot perform).
  3. Understandable: This means that users must be able to understand the information as well as the operation of the user interface (the content or operation cannot be beyond their understanding).
  4. Robust: This means that users must be able to access the content as technologies advance (as technologies evolve, the content should remain accessible).
